The Meriwether Society, Inc. hosts an Annual Meeting every year and a Reunion every other year (biennial).

This Reunion featured a number of planned activities in the Washington area.
DC Lights Tour: On Thursday evening there was a special tour of the DC monuments. Washington DC is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, especially at night. Stops included:
- US Capitol Building
- World War II Memorial
- Jefferson Memorial
- Vietnam Memorial
- Lincoln Memorial
- Korean War Memorial
- Iwo Jima Memorial
- White House
Hillwood Museum: On Friday morning, the Society had a special tour of the Hillwood Museum, the former residence of Marjorie Merriweather Post.
Gadsby’s Tavern Restaurant Old Town Alexandria: On Friday evening we enjoyed dinner in one of the elegant Colonial dining rooms served by the staff in period dress.
The site known as Gadsby’s Tavern consists of two buildings, a (circa) 1785 tavern & the 1792 City Hotel. Named after John Gadsby, who operated the tavern from 1796 til 1808, the tavern & hotel were the center of Alexandria’s economic, political, & social life in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Notable visitors, include George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, James Madison & James Monroe.
Washington by Water Tour: On Saturday members viewed the splendor of America’s monuments and the city of Washington aboard a narrated cruise on the Potomac River. We departed from the quaint and historic seaport of Old Town Alexandria with its cobblestone streets, travelling to Georgetown and back.
